The Records Unit processes approximately 75,000 reports annually. In addition to entering the reports in the computer and properly storing them, our records personnel assist the public with more than 29,000 records requests which must be furnished in a timely manner.

 

Hours of Operation

 Monday-Thursday 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Common Questions:

How many days until a report will be available from the Records Department?

  • It takes approximately three to five working days. It is recommended that you call and verify that the report is available.

 

What do I need to bring to pick up an incident report?

  • Depending on the classification of the report, the requirements may vary.

 

What do I need to bring to pick up a Traffic Accident report?

  • Traffic accidents are no longer public record until after sixty days from the date of the accident. Florida State Statute 316.066 requires you to meet the following seven exemptions in order to receive an accident report before the sixty day limit.

How to request a report by mail?

  • Include a written request, self-addressed stamped envelope, and the fee. Accidents must include a notarized Affidavit.

 

What is your fee schedule?

  • Single sided copies (per page):   $.15
  • Double sided copies (per page):   $.20
  • Certified Documents (per page):   $1.00 (plus copy fee)
  • Video or Audio Tape Duplication:  Estimated from $5.00 to $15.00 (blank tapes must be provided)
  • Grid Search:  Hourly labor charges plus copy fee
  • Photograph Reproduction from negative: Estimated from $.35 to $15.00 per photo
  • Research Service: Hourly labor charge plus copy fee

 

What procedure do I take if I need to be fingerprinted and how much will it cost?

  • Fingerprinting is only done by appointment. Please call (954) 693-8200 to schedule one.
  • The price is $5.00 per card.

 

What if I don't have my case number?

  • All our records are filed by case number. If you do not have a case number, please provide our department with the time, date, and location of incident, in order to research your request.
  • We have to search this by hand, so please provide as much information as possible.

 

What do I need for a background check?

  • We maintain Davie records only. To order a background check you should reside, or be employed in the Town of Davie, past or presently.
  • Please bring photo identification with you.
  • The fee is $1.15 (copy fee.)
  • There may be an additional fee for extensive background checks.

 

How do I find out the disposition of my case?

  • To acquire this information you must contact the State Attorney's Office at (954) 831-6600.

 

How do I get information on my parking ticket, and how do I pay for it?

  • Call the Clerk of Courts: Parking Violations Division at (954) 712-7899, or go online to www.browardclerk.org.
