Special Investigations

Special Investigations Unit

The Special Investigations Unit has increased responsibility to include Missing Persons and the Victim Advocate. In addition, the three detectives assigned to the Unit are charged with investigating cases of child abuse and neglect, elder abuse and neglect, sexual battery, sex offenses, domestic violence, parental kidnapping, and stalking. Threat abatement is still considered a viable method of reducing the rising number of domestic related homicides. The Unit also monitors the city's sexual predators and sexual offenders.

Violent Crimes Unit

The Violent Crimes Unit investigate and review some of the most serious incidents that affect the lives, health and welfare of the public. All suspicious and accidental deaths are investigated by the Violent Crimes Unit, along with all suicides, homicides and any police officer involved deaths. The unit also investigates missing persons where foul play is suspected and battery on law enforcement officers.
